OUR STORY

Flavor Has No Passport.

Culture Kitchen began where two worlds meet — the smoke of a West African roadside grill and the everyday hunger of an American kitchen. One blend carries both.

Suya skewers grilling over charcoal

Born From Many Cultures

Suya is street food in the truest sense: skewers turned over open coals, dusted generously with yaji — a peanut-and-pepper spice blend guarded by every family that makes it. Ours came from a grandmother who measured nothing and never missed.

We spent years getting that blend right outside of home: roasting the peanuts a shade darker, balancing the heat so it lingers instead of burns, and keeping every batch small enough to taste before it ships.

How We Got Here

  1. 1998

A childhood spent beside charcoal grills in Kaduna, learning the blend by smell.

  2. 2014

The family recipe crosses the Atlantic and takes over a small kitchen in the States.

  3. 2021

Friends stop asking for dinner and start asking for jars. The first batch is bagged.

  4. 2026

CK Suya Spice ships nationwide, still blended in small batches, still by hand.

What We Stand For

Bowl of red suya spice powder
  • Culture, Not Costume

We make the blend the way it is made at home — no shortcuts, no watering down for unfamiliar palates.

  • Ingredients You Can Read

Roasted peanuts, chilies, ginger, garlic, and spices. No MSG, no anti-caking fillers, no mystery flavoring.

  • Small Batch, Always

Every batch is ground, blended, and tasted in our own kitchen before it reaches yours.
